CHD 265 Advanced Observation and Participation in Early Childhood.
From this course I have gained valuable knowledge about effective teaching strategies and child assessment. My artifact from this course is a child case study assignment. Through this assignment I have learned about the importance of observation in working with children first hand. Observation is helpful in getting to know a child on a personal level, but more importantly it helps to build a comfortable relationship between the observer and the child. When the child is comfortable around the observer much valuable information about the child’s development levels can be seen. I also learned that open communication with parents is very important in order to help improve their child’s learning and development. Based on the observations I performed on the child I then created appropriate learning lessons in the specific areas of development that the child needed. This project helped prepare me to be ready in the field of early childhood education by giving me real life practice in many different areas to include assessment, communicating with children and parents, creating learning materials and lesson plans and more. I got to use my knowledge and experience in working with children and package it all together in this project and because of this it helped me grow as a professional in this field.
