CHD 120 Introduction to Early Childhood Education
From taking this course I learned about the fundamentals of early childhood education. The course introduced me to the various key areas in the field to include developmental characteristics, creating appropriate curriculums, being a professional, applying learning standards and more. I have learned about the characteristics and needs of young children as well as the different types of educational settings that can be used. I understand my role as an educator, and how to prepare myself to be a professional. My artifact from this course was creating my own educational philosophy. In creating this, I had to think deeply about my views of the role early childhood education and put together what I believe in. It made me realize that everything surrounding children can influence them and their development and how I might help promote their learning positively. I also had to think about the way I see children and how I want to teaching them as an educator. Writing the educational philosophy helped me to understand about the theories of early childhood education. They will help guide me to answer questions I may have in teaching children. I will use the knowledge from this course and apply it to my teaching strategies in the classroom to promote the best possible outcomes in children’s learning and development.
